Cyclone GAJA becoming severe….
Landfall between Pamban and Cuddalore..
As it was warned by IMD the Cyclonic Storm Gaja becoming severe and was located about 740 km of east-north east to chennai and expected to make its land fall in coastal Tamilnadu on 15th november afternoon. A news bulletin from the said department released stating that the Gaja was likely to move west to southwest and intensifies further into a severe cyclone during the coming 24 hours. also said that”While moving from west to southwest, it is likely to weaken and cross the Tamil Nadu coast between Pamban and Cuddalore.
It causes the heavy rainfall in north coastal Tamil Nadu and adjoining districts of south coastal Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh from the evening of 14th November. High speed Winds may reach at 70-80 km/ ph and touches 90 km/ph over west-central and adjoining east-central , south Bay of Bengal.
The Sea was expected to be very rough rough along the coast of Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry from 14th morning. IMD warns at the time of landfall the Sea waves were likely to go up by one metre and will inundate in the low-lying areas of Nagapatnam, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai and Ramanathapuram districts of Tamil Nadu and Karai. The fishermen have been advised not to go in the central and south Bay of Bengal in these 3 days. The government of Tamil Nadu has put its machinery and men on alert and kept around 31 thousand men to rescue around.
The NDRF personnel have been deployed in coastal districts and the people living in low lying areas are advised to move to safer places said by the collectors of Pamban, Ramanathapuram districts.
